Another one of our recent projects is a website redesign for MotoGP Werks, of Anaheim, California. Chris Redpath, the owner of MotoGP Werks, is a world renowned motorcycle engineer and builder. His resume is beyond impressive to say the least. When he came to us he had an existing website, but he wanted to update the look and create a completely custom website. He gave us the reigns and let us put some of our magic to work!
The look we designed relies heavily on visual impact. We used a lot of imagery, which will capture the visitors’ attention. The first thing the eye is drawn to on the homepage is an exciting photograph, which also contains a link to a coupon for a Free Dyno Run. Thanks to some jQuery, when the visitor mouses over the picture the coupon information slides up from the bottom. If they are interested, they can then click print, and a nice printable coupon appears for them.
A custom jQuery effect throughout the site makes the buttons fun and interactive. When the user mouses over, they roll into a grayscale version of the original button. The products page didn’t need to have much content, so we utilized this effect on the logos of the product lines that MotoGP Werks sources their parts through. Check out the Motorcycle Products page yourself!
On the other hand, the Services page is full of content, and we had to find a way to display it all without overwhelming the visitor with a wall of text. We used a nice jQuery Tabbed menu to list all of the services offered. When the user clicks on one of these services, the full explanation then slides out from underneath. Some of the Services also have subcategories, which are expandable as well.
MotoGP Werks gets a lot of press. It seems like the name Chris Redpath pops up in almost every Motorcycle Magazine there is. Therefore, they wanted to create a section of their website to display the articles they appear in. We decided that the best way to do this was to create a WordPress blog . Using the existing look of the website, we cooked up a fresh custom WordPress theme. Head on over to check out MotoGP Werks Press and Articles!
Another challenge the website was brought to us, was how to present all of the pictures in MotoGP Werks Gallery. Thanks to a combination of a jQuery Gallery and a jQuery lightbox, we found a solution. Both gallery pages have large thumbnails for each bike. When the user clicks on one of the thumbnails a nice gallery is brought up in a lightbox, allowing the visitor to focus on the pictures of the bike.
